The Furniture Bank of Oklahoma City

About us

In 2013, the 10th street location served more than 100 families. The Moore location and the I-35 warehouse, served 681 families who had lost their homes due to the Moore tornadoes and natural disasters. Nearly 800 families received free furniture. The gift-in-kind contribution of new furniture, direct from the manufacturer, totaled over $1.8 million. Also, there was another $800,000 in gift-in-kind contributions that made the furniture bank possible. There was only $65,000 of total expenses in serving nearly 800 families. Our volunteers expended countless hours on Saturdays and week nights to serve the furniture needs of our community. In 2013, local families donated over 400 pieces of furniture that our volunteers picked up from their homes and brought to the furniture bank.

We've increased our ability to pick up and deliver furniture by adding a 16 foot box truck.  This truck was purchased with a one-time cash donation.  We pick up donations in the greater OKC area to include Moore, Norman, Edmond, Yukon, Midwest City, and Del City.  We provide delivery to our customers for a small fee and encourage individual pick up to allow us to get our customers their furniture the same day.  Deliveries are generally accomplished on the following Saturday.

HOME
is a word that instantly draws strong emotions from each of us.  It is supposed to be a place of comfort, encouragement, safety and love.  But too many in our community struggle to have the basic furnishings they need to create a sense of home for their family.  The Furniture Bank of OKC is designed to help provide core furniture and home furnishings to families struggling to equip their home and begin to build a sense of family together.  Families are invited to choose their furniture from our available inventory to enable them to claim a sense of hope and pride in the housing that will become their home.

The Furniture Bank of OKC is a non-profit creative partnership between the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, Catholic Charities, and The HUB Mission Ministry .  This partnership invites very diverse congregations and organizations to bring their unique contributions to the table. Together we seek to meet critical needs of refugees, foster families, the working poor  - and now families impacted by the recent tornadoes that swept across Central Oklahoma.

All furniture and home furnishing offered by the Furniture Bank of OKC are donated by local families, congregations, organizations, institutions and companies. Its facilities are provided by local business leaders their gift of support for the mission of the Furniture Bank.  The Furniture Bank of OKC is also staffed by volunteers that give of their time to pick up and deliver furniture, prepare and present the Furniture Bank's inventory, and work with families to aid them in securing the furniture and home furnishings they need.

The home site for the Furniture Bank is 3922 NW 10th Street in Oklahoma City.  It is a community care ministry of the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
